It was Silent. The river is now a tiny trickle of water, the sun beats down on the dry forest, and the prey is scarce. After two seasons since the last rainfall, the cats are weak, hot, and thirsty. Having barely any water left in the forest, the clan cats have had to adapt to the drought. Windclan now lives at Fourtrees, for the is no water left in their territory. Shadowclan’s camp surrounds a small stream of water, even though it is quite close to the Thunderpath. Riverclan is still living in their camp, and are doing better than the other clans despite the lack of fish, but they have had to hunt mainly land animals during the drought. The Owl Tree is now the camp for Thunderclan, situated just tail-lengths form a stream. But, as the clans try to make up for the lack of water to quench their dry throats, the prey is still extremely limited, for it too is being affected by the drought. Several clan cats, though mainly elders and kits, have died because of the drought. The clans wonder how much longer they’ll be able to last, and if Mother Nature will ever open their clouds to the forest again. Medicine Cats and Leaders are even having a difficult time communicating with Starclan, and they are beginning to think the clans are being punished. Will the drought end before the clans die? Or will they have to find a new forest to live?
