Darkstorm
He hadn't really intended to make the more than unnecessary trip to the thunderpath, but he did. Its black path cut through the green of the forest, signifying where the marsh ended and the deciduous trees began. It was fairly silent except for the steady falling of snow, the small flakes landing randomly on his blue-gray pelt. Snow tended to do that though; it made the world stop, it turned everything a shade darker, and it made it eerily quiet. Darkstorm didn't mind this. It wasn't terrible to have a moment of forced silence every once in a while. While the warrior wasn't anti-social or seeking solitude, he still made for the edge of his Clan's territory. His blue eyes looked at the small slope that led up to the path, pointedly ignoring the dark tunnel dug into its side. He had no intentions of passing through it, for there was no need to. He was merely visiting, aimlessly, and without a purpose.
Which was so unlike him. Normally everything the tom did had a purpose, but he couldn't deny that sometimes he liked to go from practical to impractical; after all, what could be so terrible about wandering for just a moment's retrospection? His business side was yelling at him, telling him that, 'No, not true!' but he didn't really care. Darkstorm knew that in some way he needed this. This time... to think, to ponder, to be alone and away from political quarrels and bantering with his sister. Although he'd never admit it, he did adore his sibling, but he swore that she just caused too much of his stress lately. He only worried that while seeking seclusion like this someone would find him. What if they did, though? What would they do? Yell at him? Curiously question him and leave it at his answers? It wasn't like he was committing a great crime; he could easily pass it off as hunting. The Thunderpath and the tunnel's mouth wasn't exactly the best place to be, though. Er... He was desperate?
Sitting in the grass (that already had a good dusting of snow on it), Darkstorm let his eyes wander over the small rise and the lone monster that was there. It seemed to crawl at a terribly sloth-like pace along the black trail, its eyes glowing fiercely. The spectator deemed that it must be wary out in the cold, so he flicked an ear at it. Darkstorm never really showed much interest in the monsters, not since Blackpebble had lectured him so many moons ago about how they really were nothing to fear. An amusing thought came to the warrior as he continued to placidly watch the monster drag itself down the thunderpath; Blackpebble, on one of his very rare outings with the apprentice, had told him one of his hardly ever told stories. The ShadowClan cat had apparently been so bold as to stand in front of a moving monster in broad daylight. According to his word, Blackpebble had just stood there, staring at the monster's face with expressionless eyes. To the patrol's surprise (whom had been accompanying him) the monster had stopped abruptly before the dark-pelted tom. A few moments had then passed before Blackpebble trotted back into the bushes.
Remembering it made Darkstorm laugh aloud, his eyes becoming warm as the monster finally disappeared out of sight in the thickening snowfall. He recalled about how, when he heard Blackpebble say his tale, he had not believed him at first. The two of them had to find one of the cats whom had witnessed it before to convince him with exasperated eyes and a still-shocked kind of expression. It... had actually been one of the very few times that his mentor had really been animated over something. The thought made him happy, but strangely sad at the same time. He regretted that he never was able to make Bleckpebble be so open more often, and he also felt bad that he hadn't been able to enjoy more things of the same nature before he... Yeah. Looking toward the sky, he blinked away a few snowflakes that landed in his eye. Darkstorm had to wonder if his former mentor was even up there in StarClan. Actually, wherever he was... Did he ever take the moment to maybe stop what he was doing to look down every once in a while? Or was he... not important enough?
Huffing the thought away, he blinked once or twice before turning his gaze back to the Thunderpath. Did he ever care...? he thought, heart aching slightly. And only slightly. Shaking his head, Darkstorm tucked his tail closer to his side. No use in wondering over such things now, eh? Yes. No use whatsoever...
